Am I developing a bad habit or an eating disorder? | Health and ...

Question by cJrnHY45: Am I developing a bad habit or an eating disorder?
Over the past few months I?ve been thoroughly counting calories I eat in the day, down to the point where I write in a word document what I will be eating for the day, and the next day, sometimes i plan a couple days ahead what every meal will be, the calories, protein and the time I should be eating it. I have had a few catalogged ?cheat days? in the past either because I totally lost control or social setting influenced the consumption of more than desirable calories.

But I feel like I lose control sometimes, like I know how many calories im supposed to eat in a day, but sometimes I gorge those specific foods and I stop so that I dont eat everything in the plan for the day. I know what my maintenance calories are, or at least I?m pretty sure as I?ve been able to be somewhat consistent and haven?t gained or lost weight in the last 6 or so months. (I have just recently lost a lot of weight, over 100 lbs in the last 2 years), am at 166lbs, age 23 male, 6?0, and have been eating much healthier in general, but now I?ve gotten to the point where all I think about it food, calories and meal plans, I think I?m obsessed. I think about protein intake, sugar consumption, white or whole grain, etc.

Sometimes I also eat my meals really fast to. I drink plenty of liquids (Although, also lots of diet soda, I know its not good for me, I know this may be contributing to the eating impulse, but I dont know that the impulse is actually hunger or psycological) I almost feel like I could eat till I burst (and have almost a few times), it seems to me like I?ve expanded my stomach beyond that of a normal person, and Im a bit worried about that. When I?m at home or idle there?s not much to do when Im not working out or working on school work. (Even when I?m out of the house or hanging out with people food crosses my mind) could it be I?m becoming a boredom or emotional eater? I?ve always had snacking problems in the past but now that I have this calorie counting ?weapon? at my aid its like its the only thing between me and gaining weight again.

Also, I tend to eat VERY heavy in the morning, or within 3 hours of waking, usually around the 9 to noon period, and then tend to take it very light in the evening, I always make sure to ?save? calories for an hour or two before bed so I don?t go to bed hungry or anything. An example, I dont work till later in the day, I am either idle at the computer or working on school work, if my average maintenance calories is at about 2700, I try to plan and spread this out through 5-7 meals in the day.

Whats been happening alot lately is Instead of the 400-500 calories meals, I might just say screw it and eat 1k?s worth of those calories in two or three sittings (getting up to get more), and within a few hours like half of my daily alloted calories are consumed, and I have to watch it.

Any thoughts? Suggestions? Should I try getting help or changing my ways? Sorry its a long read.
